Samantha Lance

Samantha Lance is a first-year Master of Visual Studies in Curatorial Studies at the University of Toronto. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction in Criticism and Curatorial Practice from OCAD University. From 2016 to 2022, she curated four of St. Mary’s College’s annual arts festivals at her previous high school in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She has also worked as a Curatorial Assistant at the Art Gallery of Algoma and volunteered as a Gallery Guide at the Art Gallery of Ontario. While interning at Onsite Gallery during her undergraduate studies, Samantha became interested in ecological art while researching environmental artists and designers. This would lead to understanding how artists have been reconnecting back to themselves and nature during the pandemic for her thesis exhibition, A Breath of Fresh Air in 2021. During her Master’s, she continues to explore the intersections between nature, spirituality and art.
