Julie Gladstone
Julie Gladstone is a visual artist, writer, teacher and musician based in Toronto, Canada. She holds an MFA in the Interdisciplinary Art, Media and Design program at OCADU and a BFA in painting, drawing and film studies from Concordia University. Her interdisciplinary practice includes painting, textiles, photography, music, performance, video, installation and writing.
Her work is widely collected and has been supported by the Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Council, the Government of Quebec and most recently with an Ontario Graduate Scholarship. Recent solo exhibitions have included Lullabies in Exile at Redeemer University (2022-23), Four Angels, Four Corners, Ten Stones, Ten Veils at the OCADU Graduate Gallery (2022), Return to the Fortress at the Museum of Jewish Montreal (2019 - 2020) and La Fuente de Los Deseos at the David Melul Museum in Béjar, Spain (2019).
Gladstone is a classically trained pianist with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She released her debut EP Life Line in 2022, an album of re-imagined Ladino lullabies with Sonic Peach Music. Her book Four Corners, Four Angels, Ten Stones, Ten Veils is being published by Out and About Press in 2023.
