Jill Smith

Jill Smith (she/her) is a queer, Jewish multi-disciplinary artist born and based in Tkaronto/Toronto. Currently a MFA candidate at University of Waterloo, her research focuses on the intersections of Judaism, object oriented ontology, and eco-feminism. Smith has exhibited work in spaces across Ontario, including the plumb, The Brandscape, Ed Video Media Art Centre, and Forest City Gallery, as well as Friends and Neighbours Gallery in Montreal, Quebec. Smith holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honors Specialization in Studio Art) from Western University in London, Ontario, and has participated in artist residency programs at AGA LAB in Amsterdam, NL (September 2017), and Luminous Bodies at Artscape Gibraltar Point (Toronto, June-July 2018). Current and upcoming projects include solo exhibitions at Xpace Cultural Centre (Toronto 2023) and Centre[3] for Artistic + Social Practice (Hamilton 2024).
